Lent Journal – Day 29

This Lent, Claire is also sorting out clutter:

“I’m going to make a concerted effort to rid my house of the huge amounts of clutter that seems to be seeping out of the woodwork…I really don’t need 5 years of ‘Gardeners World’ magazines (YES I DO!!!!!) , perhaps I could donate them to a gardening club?? I don’t really need, or will ever use a receipt from Argos for a toaster we bought in 1995 that I actually threw out in 2005.”

Claire’s comments reminded me of something William Morris once said:
“Have nothing in your houses that you that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

And not just in our homes, but I wonder about having beautiful or useful things in our hearts.  Perhaps today we can do something beautiful or useful and be a blessing to those around us.
