Lent Journal – Day 30

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  Colossians 3:17

At yesterday evening’s Celtic worship service at St. Mary’s I was reminded of the Iona Community’s belief that “daily activity is the stuff of godly service—work and worship.”   It’s tempting to slip into a mindset which separates what we consider to be our everyday, workaday life from the sacred, from our worship in church.  May our Lenten disciplines bring us into a deeper relationship with God, that all we are and do speak of God’s love.

Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
alive and at large in the world,
help us to follow and find you there today,
in the places where we work,
meet people,
spend money,
and make plans.
Take us as disciples of your kingdom,
to see through your eyes,
and hear the questions you are asking,
to welcome all others with your trust and truth,
and to change the things that contradict God’s love,
by the power of the cross
and the freedom of your Spirit.
Amen.
