Lent Journal – Day 40

So we have come to the end of the 40 days of Lent.  I hope your Lenten discipline, whatever it has been, has given you space to think, to reflect, to pray, to be…  I hope it has been transformative and life-giving
Tomorrow is Easter Day, a day of great joy and celebration, but today…what do we make of today, Holy Saturday?  It always feels to me slightly disconnected, a day of waiting.  On a practical level there are things to be done, preparations for tomorrow.  But there is a sense of stillness too.  For Jesus’ friends it was Sabbath, a day of rest, so they couldn’t attend to his body in the way they wanted to immediately; they had to wait.  And so today, we wait.  We try to find space to still our thoughts…and to wait.

There is a song which I love to listen to during this time.  It’s called ‘The glory of it all’ by the David Crowder Band.  I think it’s beautiful:

At the start
He was there
He was there
In the end
He’ll be there
He’ll be there
And after all
Our hands have wrought
He forgives

Oh, the glory of it all
Is He came here
For the rescue of us all
That we may live
For the glory of it all
Oh, the glory of it all

All is lost
Find Him there
Find Him there
After night
Dawn is there
Dawn is there
And after all
Falls apart
He repairs
He repairs

Oh, He is here
With redemption from the fall
That we may live
For the glory of it all
Oh, the glory of it all
After night
Comes a light
Dawn is here
Dawn is here
It’s a new day, a new day
Oh, everything will change
Things will never be the same
We will never be the same

Oh, everything will change
Things will never be the same
We will never be same
