‘The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…’ Galatians 5:22-23
The doorbell rang, and when I opened the door a woman held out a pretty bunch of flowers.
“These are for you,” she said. “I wanted to encourage you, and for you to know that you’re not alone.”
It took me a moment to realize that we had both been at a meeting the previous evening. Something had been said about an issue I was involved with, which left me feeling despondent and that I had somehow failed. This person, who I didn’t know very well, had noticed and wanted to cheer me up. It was a small act of kindness – not spectacular, the problem had not gone away – but it changed the way I felt and put things in perspective.
What small act of kindness could we offer to make a difference to someone’s day?
